Uncle Nearest 1856 is a blend of our premium aged whiskey. It has a caramel color with a beautiful deep golden hue. On the nose, baled hay and pumpkin seeds with subtle notes of ripe stone fruit and caramel corn. Bold and spicy upfront then mellows with sweet caramel and maple, like biting into an oatmeal raisin cookie. The finish is long and rich. It lingers pleasantly sweet on the palate with notes of vanilla after the spice dissipates.

Exciting Whiskey with extraordinary history.
The story of Tennessee Whiskey is a story about a Lynchburg preacher/farmer who taught a young Jack Daniel how to run the stills. Well, that’s the old story. Now, after years of research, the mythology became even cooler. The man who actually trained Jack to be the future Whiskey behemoth, was the preacher’s slave, Nathan Green, a.k.a. Uncle Nearest. Fawn Weaver was so inspired by the new found tale of the first African-American distiller, she bought the legendary farm and built a distillery nearby. Uncle Nearest celebrates the forgotten legacy of Nathan Green and offers true Tennessee Whiskey.
Local grains, a special yeast strain, double distillation, the exclusive Lincoln County process (triple charcoal mellowing), and new American oak barrels write a fantastic tale of the bright Whiskey future, founded on one of the most exciting origin stories. Nathan Green was a trailblazer and a forgotten hero – a hero we must not forget again. Uncle Nearest 1856 Premium Whiskey is a rich and smooth Spirit with a sweet nose and a caramel palate with just the right amount of spices.
